Windows 10 Virtual Desktops

By David Bell, Account Manager at Oughtred & Harrison IT Services.

If you’ve made the switch over to Windows 10 you may be aware of some of the advanced features. One of the most useful is virtual Desktop. This feature allows you to make a new (blank) desktop while keeping the old one (with programs and tabs open) in the background.

Below are some useful shortcuts to get you started:

If you want to create new virtual desktop press: Windows key + Ctrl + D

If you want to close current virtual desktop press : Windows key + Ctrl + F4

If you want to switch between virtual desktops press : Windows key + Ctrl + Left or Right

Press the Windows logo key and D to minimise all apps and show the Desktop

Pressing the Windows logo key and S together will open the search bar allowing you to search your pc for a document or app.

It's well worth having a play with this feature as you can organise your desktop into different work areas.  Much neater than a screen full of icons!
